Amy’s love of horses began as a very young child with an Arabian/Welsh Pony cross named Velvet Joy. Amy and Velvet participated in local Western shows and 4H with The Mustangers Pony club.  Amy earned an academic scholarship to an all girls’ boarding school, The Madeira School in McLean, VA and then transitioned to English riding.  At Madeira, Amy competed in Hunter Jumper shows on the school riding team. The team competed at Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) competitions in addition to local and USEF- rated horse shows.
After high school Amy was forced to take a long hiatus from horses in order to further pursue her academic goals.  During a gap year Amy was scouted by a modeling agency and signed with Wilhelmina in New York City. Amy worked as a model doing runway, catalogue, and editorial work in New York City, Miami and internationally in Munich, Germany and Vienna, Austria. She had print editorials that appeared in AllureGlamour, and Brides magazines in the 90’s and recently did an editorial photo shoot with her horse, Ravel, for an equine pharmaceutical company.

In 2001, Amy graduated from Boise State University with a B.A. in English Literature. She went on to earn a full ride Graduate scholarship to BSU. In 2003, Amy graduated with Honors earning her M.A. in English with an emphasis in English Composition & Rhetoric. She then taught as an Adjunct Professor at Boise State in the English Department and also at College of Western Idaho. Amy returned to riding as an Adult Amateur and became fascinated with Dressage. In 2013, she purchased an imported Hanoverian schoolmaster, Ravel Maurice, and the pair started competing successfully in 2014. Amy took over what was known as "Once Upon a Horse" in 2018 and founded Hallelujah Farms Dressage, LLC. After an extensive capital improvement campaign overseen by Amy, HFD has undergone an amazing metamorphosis. The entire interior of the main barn was remodeled including new stall walls, upgraded footing in the indoor arena, and fresh paint, flooring and bathroom fixtures added. Amy is currently competing with her new dance partner, EMC D'Romantica, a Hanoverian schoolmistress, with the goal of earning her Bronze medal.
